Coming up with a packing list can be the most daunting part of a long road trip. Here's a list of packing essentials to help make your journey smooth and hassle-free. Buckle up and get ready to hit the road!

1. Food & Stuff

No road trip is complete without an assortment of snacks to keep hunger at bay. We decided to splurge on this electric cooler to keep our road snacks cold without ice. Don't forget PLENTY of water (and peanut m&ms); we keep a full 4L bladder in our car at all times.

2. Sleeping, Sitting, Camping

For overnight camping stops and road-side lunch breaks, we have these compact folding chairs, in addition to this sunshade rocker. And because no one likes to eat off their laps (right?), here's the packable table we purchased. Bring trash bags and wipes for easy clean up. Be sure to leave outdoor spaces cleaner than you found them! (#LNT)

3. Entertainment Essentials

As a big family of board game players, you know we brought our travel Scrabble! We also brought art supplies (paints, brushes, canvases), beading & crochet supplies, books, and the old iPad (with this seat mount for easy Netflix binging).

4. Emergency Kit

It's important to pack a basic emergency kit with essentials like a first aid supplies, backup flashlight, batteries, multi-tool, and roadside assistance information. We're keeping our emergency kit in this collapsible box.

5. Electronics

Portable chargers could be the only important thing I add here. No one likes a dead phone! This bug-zapping lantern will illuminate your space, keep bugs away, AND charge your phone.

8. Exercise

It doesn't take much before I go a little stir-crazy on the road, so my best solution here is to bring some portable workout gear. We packed our resistance bands, yoga mats, and a few light weights.

8. Don't Forget Fido!

Fido (or in this case, Nala) will be happy to know they've been included. We packed our pup a big Tupperware of food & snacks, extra leashes, a dog bed and blankets, and a harness with an attachable seatbelt clip. It also doubles as a rescue sling in case of emergency on the trail.

Happy Trails!
